“NO” is the first in a series of five cassettes to be released by Curly Cassettes in 2013. The rules of the project are:

1. All music performed by Old Light. Each release produced by a different member of the band. Engineers and recording locations may vary.
2. All tracks recorded to Tascam 388 1/4” 8-track, enabling the project to be mobile according to producer’s choice. All mixes 8 tracks or less.
3. Mixes mastered directly to cassette, ensuring direct analog connection between Old Light and Listener.
4. Each subsequent release in the series of 5 features a variation of one song from the previous release.
5. Each cassette release is $5, includes download. When the series is complete, a handmade box set will be available for $25.

PRODUCTION NOTES:
Friday, 1/18/13: Drums, guitar, bass, & vocals recorded live to Tascam 388 8-track tape machine at Glue Factory by Brent Asbury & Sam Farrell.
Monday, 1/21/13: Rhythm drums overdub on “Magic Bag,” keyboard overdubs.
Wednesday, 1/23/13: Side A mixed to cassette master by Brent Asbury at his home studio.
Friday, 1/25/13: Vocal overdubs on “Volcano in the Snow,” “Empty Head,” & “Kruise Kontrol.” “Empty Head” vocals recorded to master through 388 during mastering. Side B mixed to cassette master by Garth Klippert at Glue Factory. Edition of 50 cassettes duplicated and released the same night at Old Light’s show at Habesha in Portland, OR.
